Journalist Co-operative Housing Society Holds Steering Committee Meeting to Discuss Key Issues, Elections

In a focused meeting held at Somajiguda Press Club, the Steering Committee of the Journalist Co-operative Housing Society Limited convened under the leadership of Bheemagani Mahesh Goud to address pressing issues surrounding members’ housing aspirations. The committee emphasized the importance of electing representatives dedicated to the Society’s mission of securing housing plots.

The discussion highlighted the need for members’ support and cooperation to overcome the challenges in securing land ownership. The agenda covered crucial topics, including preparations for the upcoming Society Management Committee elections, the role of members, plans for housing plot acquisition, and the desire to foster a united front in the elections.

As the election process advances, the committee deliberated on the responsibilities of the new Management Committee and the importance of creating a joint agenda that harmonizes the interests of both allotted (allottees) and unallotted (non-allottees) members. Many members expressed a preference for a unified panel representing the Society’s majority non-allottees to strengthen their chances of electoral success.

During the meeting, it was proposed that a list of non-allottee members, backed by Aadhaar numbers, be submitted by Media Academy Chairman Srinivas Reddy to ensure transparency. The Society representatives also addressed concerns and clarified that the Society has no plans to merge with other housing societies, urging members to dispel such misconceptions.

To prevent dual memberships across multiple societies, Steering Committee member Goparaju announced plans to compile an Aadhaar-linked list of members. Goparaju also proposed establishing a diverse election panel, including representatives from various segments: one from the allottees, one representing women, one representing Muslim minorities, one film journalist, one cameraman, and two members from the Steering Committee.

Treasurer Mikkilineni Ravindra Babu provided a financial update, informing that after deducting expenses and advocate fees related to ongoing court cases, the Society holds a surplus fund of ₹1,71,496. The Steering Committee decided to retain this fund in the bank until the elections are complete, with a commitment to ensure transparency regarding the collected funds.

Senior journalist Satya Murthy suggested that all members declare their exclusive affiliation with the Journalist Co-operative Housing Society through an affidavit, clarifying that they have no association with other societies to maintain eligibility for Society benefits.

Notable attendees at the meeting included Steering Committee members Yalavarthi Sunitha, Janga Reddy, Mahesh Goud, Yadayya, Durga Srinivas, Kishore, Prabhu, Pawan Kumar, Lakshmi Narayana, Ashok, Muddam Narasimha Swamy, Yoganand, Veeranjaneyulu, and Sagar. The meeting underscored the Society’s commitment to unity and transparency as they work to secure housing for its members.
