Junaid Khan Opens Up About His Journey to Maharaj

Junaid Khan, son of Bollywood legend Aamir Khan, has finally made his film debut at the age of 31 with the much-anticipated YRF and Netflix collaboration, Maharaj. Originally slated for an early June release, the film faced a setback due to a stay order following allegations of hurting the sentiments of the Pushtimarg community. However, after clearance from the Gujarat High Court, Maharaj has now premiered on Netflix.

In an exclusive interview , Junaid Khan revealed his deliberate approach to entering the film industry. Despite receiving offers earlier, Junaid waited patiently for the right opportunity. “Before Maharaj happened, I had been receiving scripts. I’ve been involved in plays in Mumbai since 2017, and during that time, I would occasionally receive film scripts and audition calls,” Junaid shared.

Junaid’s journey to Maharaj began unexpectedly when the film’s director Siddharth P Malhotra and producer Aditya Chopra noticed his screen test for another project. “This is my first film because this is the first thing that worked out for everybody,” Junaid remarked humbly.

Unlike many of his peers, Junaid has chosen to maintain a low profile on social media and with the paparazzi. He clarified that his absence from social media was not a deliberate strategy but rather a natural choice.

“People didn’t know what I looked like largely because I never took to social media even when it became a thing. There was no conscious decision there. It’s just how it happened and panned out,” he explained.

Looking ahead, Junaid Khan is set to appear alongside Khushi Kapoor in a remake of the Tamil film Love Today, showing that his journey in Bollywood is only just beginning.
