Hyderabad: In order to highlight the Kaleshwaram project and to deflate the Opposition criticism against the TRS Government, former deputy chief minister and MLC Kadiyam Srihari today flagged off a rally to Kaleshwaram from Madikonda in Warangal. Thousands of TRS leaders, party activists and people with their vehicles participated in the rally.
Speaking to mediapersons, Kadiyam lashed out at the Congress leaders for siphoning of thousands of crores of rupees in the name of projects and yagnas and now they are running around courts and jails after cases have been foisted on them by the ACB, CBI and ED. If anyone has patent rights on corruption in the country, it is the Congress leaders, he ridiculed.
He said Congress leaders, who ruled united Andhra Pradesh remained silent when the Godavari waters were diverted to Andhra region. “They never fought for the rights and interests of the people of Telangana. Thousands of crores of rupees of public money were siphoned off in the name of projects and yagnas and now the Congress leaders are running around courts and jails after cases have been registered against them by the ACB, CBI and ED. If anyone has patent rights on corruption in the country, it is the Congress leaders, he ridiculed.
Firing a salvo against the BJP leaders, Srihari said after winning four seats in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP was making desperate attempts to make itself heard. He said the BJP does not have the right to ask for votes in Telangana. Narendra Modi’s leadership in the last five years had done nothing for the State of Telangana, he added.
The former deputy chief minister said they were going to the Kaleshwaram project to deflect criticism from the Opposition in the villages and towns. The Kaleshwaram Project is an engineering marvel built under the guidance of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, he said. Engineering experts, leaders of Central and State governments, Central Water Commission officials, and power finance corporations are praising the project and this has sent shivers in the Congress and BJP leaders.
Srihari said Kaleshwaram water has already reached Mid Manair and Warangal distrcit is the first to benefit from this project. Kaleshwaram Project is a gigantic project, which provides water to 22 districts in Telangana, and the credit goes to Chief Minister only, he said. The idea behind the rally was the people would get a first hand account of the project and dispel the criticism by the Opposition parties from the people’s minds, he added. (NSS)
