Kanakadurga temple makes Rs 11.06 cr during Dasara celebrations

Vijayawada : During nine-day Dasara Navarathri celebrations, Sri Kanakadurga Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri here has earned Rs 11.06-crore income through Hundi collections, sale of darshan tickets and prasadams, said temple executive officer Koteswaramma here today.  Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, the EO said due to the coordinated efforts of the temple employees, board members, officials of various departments and voluntary organizations, the temple could not only earned handsome income but also ensured darshan of the presiding deity to several lakhs of devotees.  Koteswaramma said the temple got Rs 5.88 crore from Hundi collections, Rs 5.17 crore through paid sevas and sale of prasadams and other services. She also explained that the temple officials had spent Rs 8.40 crore for making various arrangements for the visiting devotees. (NSS)
