Kanpur Hospital Faces Charges Over Negligence Covid Patients

Amidst the rising cases of the Coronavirus and the shortage of supplies, a private medical facility in Kanpur was recently booked for negligence.

CMO Lodged Complaint Against Kanpur Facility With the Police 

As per the latest reports, the Kanpur facility, Naraina Hospital, was booked after a district judge tested positive for Coronavirus and went to the hospital for treatment. After his arrival and saw the state of affairs in the hospital. He reached there with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Anil Mishra on Wednesday. And they both were reportedly shocked to see the situation in the hospital.

Following this, CMO later lodged a complaint with the police against the facility. In the complaint, he said he had accompanied Justice R.P Singh who had tested positive for the Coronavirus. They had informed the hospital’s manager Amit Narain.

He said that they had taken the elevator to an upper floor to take the Judge. But the elevator got stuck for a long time and when they got out of the elevator, they didn’t see any doctors who would take care of Covid 19 patients. And nor did they see any specialist present there to attend to Justice Singh as well.

Many of the attendants who were present there in the ward also complained of negligence on the hospital’s behalf. Immediately, Judge R.P Singh asked the CMO to take legal actions against the hospital over their negligent behaviour towards patients and staff.

Hospital Faces Charges Under Indian Penal Code 

The CMO later went to the Panki police station and lodged a complaint against the hospital. Asim Arun, Kanpur Police Commissioner released a statement after the FIR was registered. He said that after the CMO approached them, they have registered an FIR against the Naraina Medical College’s manager Amit Narain. Along with the doctors and the staff embers.

However, the staff members have not been named in the FIR. An investigation is underway over the matter. The case has been registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020.
