Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today called on Governor ESL Narasimhan and apprised him of the new bill presented for Municipal Act and others approved in the special session of the two-day Assembly here.
The Chief Minister met the Governor at Raj Bhavan after the House was adjourned to Friday followed by introduction of the Municipal Act amendment Bill and several others. The House also approved the bills, which include Panchayat Raj amendment Bill, bills for appointment of chairman for Loan Waiver Commission, raising retirement age limit for teaching doctors and others. The Chief Minister met the Governor as the Centre appointed a separate Governor for residual Andhra Pradesh State. He talked on bifurcation issues, Kaleshwaram lift waters and plan to share
Godavari waters among the two Telugu States and sought his cooperation for speedy resolution of the same.
KCR is understood to have informed the Governor on the importance of the Municipal Act that will check corruption and ensure smooth and speedy governance. The Municipal Act will empower the District Collectors to push development and give priority to green drive for ecological balance, KCR said. The Chief Minister also said the State government to set up Property Tax Board and the Municipal Act will provide code of conduct to the people’s representatives.
The House also approved to set up new revenue divisions for in Kollapur in Nagar Kurnool district and Korutla revenue division in Jagitial district. He also said the Municipal Act was for development of the municipalities and municipal corporations with adequate funds. Soon the polls for civic body polls will be held and Municipal Act will become an Act from July 19, he said. KCR also said Rs 2,074 crore will be allocated for the civic bodies in the State for development. (NSS)
