Hyderabad : State BJP president K. Laxman on Wednesday asked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao as to why he was scared of holding September 17 as Telangana Liberation Day. He asked the CM whether he was scared of his ally MIM.
He made these remarks while addressing a round table conference held on the issue of celebrating September 17 as Telangana Liberation Day. Laxman demanded that the State government hold celebrations in an official manner. He also said they were preparing an action plan to mount pressure on the TRS government to achieve their demand.
The BJP leader alleged that the Chief Minster, who had demanded that the governments of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh State to hold Telangana Liberation Day celebrations in an official manner, had forgotten about his demand after coming to power in the newly formed State. Stating that the CM had also made a categorical statement on the issue that his government would not hold the celebrations in an official manner, Laxman said they would teach a befitting lesson to KCR on the issue.
Former Union minister Bandaru Dattatraya said the people in the State had suffered many atrocities during the erstwhile Nizam rule and added that they were all liberated on September 17. He alleged that the State government had retracted from its promise of holding it as a Sstate function. (NSS)
