KTR Criticizes Revanth Reddy, Highlights BRS’s Commitment to Minority Welfare and Education

Telangana Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) took a sharp dig at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, calling Telangana a “Musibat ki Dukaan” (shop of troubles) rather than a “Mohabaat ki Dukaan” (shop of love), accusing the latter of trivializing political issues. KTR’s remarks were made on the occasion of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birth anniversary, where he distributed notebooks and study material to poor Muslim students at Telangana Bhavan, further emphasizing the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government’s commitment to minority welfare and education.

KTR, who is also the son of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), expressed his party’s ongoing dedication to fostering unity and social harmony in the state. Reflecting on the legacy of Maulana Azad, India’s first Education Minister, KTR underscored the significance of education in empowering minorities. “Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s vision and legacy are a guiding light for all of us,” KTR said, as he praised the BRS for its sustained efforts to uplift minority communities through educational initiatives.

Taking a swipe at political opponents, KTR criticized Revanth Reddy for his comments on the state’s governance, particularly regarding the unity and harmony that KCR’s leadership has fostered in Telangana. The Minister noted that despite fears of religious tensions in 2014, the BRS government under KCR had upheld the state’s Ganga–Jamuni Tehzeeb (syncretic culture), ensuring peaceful coexistence among all communities. KTR said, “KCR treated everyone with humanness and not merely as voters but as members of one family,” pointing to the government’s inclusive welfare programs such as the distribution of Batukamma sarees, Ramzan Tofa (gifts), and Christmas gifts to various communities.

A significant portion of KTR’s address focused on education, where he highlighted the BRS government’s efforts to enhance educational opportunities for minorities. “Under KCR’s leadership, nearly 200 residential schools have been established, benefiting around 1.4 lakh students annually,” KTR said. He emphasized that each student received an allocation of Rs 1.2 lakh per year, a testament to the state’s strong commitment to minority education.

KTR expressed pride in the accomplishments of Telangana’s minority students, many of whom are now studying in prestigious institutions across India. “Students from minority residential schools are now studying in some of the most respected institutions in the country, making Telangana proud,” KTR remarked, adding that the BRS government’s focus on education was one of the key drivers behind these achievements.

The Minister’s comments highlighted the BRS’s narrative of inclusivity and development, in contrast to the political rhetoric of its rivals. By reiterating the importance of education, social harmony, and minority welfare, KTR aimed to reinforce the party’s commitment to the ideals of unity, progress, and equal opportunity for all communities in Telangana.
