KTR Distributes 468 Houses in Marredpally Slum

Telangana Municipal Administration and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao today expressed happiness at the completion of the housing facility for the slum dwellers at Old Marredpally area in Secunderabad.

The government gave away 468 units of two-bedroom houses to the poor in the Marredpally slum area.

In his Twitter, KTR said the State government is at the forefront to address challenges of slum development. He expressed happiness that the government handed over 468 houses to the slum dwellers near Old Marredpally in the Secunderabad area. He also said they addressed the issues of the slum dwellers.

There was a challenge in addressing the issues of the slums and the KCR Government addressed the same, the minister claimed. He tagged photographs of the slums before and after construction of the 2 BHK units at Old Marredpally.

However, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is able to address them all and ensure that the poor get double bedroom housing with facilities with better facilities, he said. The government built the houses for slum dwellers at the old Marredpally area in 5.18 acres which is worth about Rs 350 cr and built 468 houses in 22 blocks at the slum. The amount spent for the purpose was put at Rs 36.27 cr to build each house at a cost of Rs 7.75 lakh in 560 sft.

Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said the State government offers costly land for providing the poor housing free of cost. “We develop Hasmathpet Nala to avoid flooding by spending Rs 10 cr, he claimed. He said the government is giving 20,000 liters of drinking water free of cost to the people in the twin cities.

Dignity houses are being offered to the people in slums and the poor to make a respectful living, he said. The state government offers 2BHK for the poor under a two-bedroom housing scheme free of cost. Along with Ministers Srinivas Yadav, Mahamood Ali and Malla Reddy, and others, KT Rama Rao distributed the housing units to the poor at the slum.

Mayor G Vijaya Lakshmi, deputy Mayor Srilatha Reddy, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh, and officials attended the program.
