KTR: Hyderabad can become a hub of automobile technology

During the inauguration of Advance Auto Parts’ Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad on Monday, Telangana IT minister K T said Hyderabad has the potential to emerge as an automobile technology hub. In addition to its headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, GCC is the firm’s largest software development centre outside of Raleigh.

In partnership with a variety of automotive OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), suppliers, technology companies, and startups, the state government has set about creating a world-class Telangana Mobility Valley (TMV) at Yenkathala in Mominpet of Vikarabad district. The Automotive Ecosystem in Hyderabad will be built in partnership with Advance Auto Parts and TMV.

I am very proud to see Telangana’s focus on digitalisation and industry-friendly policies resulting in it becoming a destination preferred by global investors like Advance Auto Parts, Rama Rao said. It serves more than 1,000 global innovators in research and development across multiple sectors thanks to Hyderabad’s R&D prowess and exceptional talent pool.

According to the Fortune 500 company, GCC will act as a hub of innovation, providing crucial support in IT, digital, financial, and human resource areas.

Recruiting, retaining, and developing top talent are top priorities for Advance in India, and we are committed to investing heavily in this market to drive growth and value across the company. Tom Greco, president and CEO of Advance, said, “We look forward to growing our global team in Hyderabad… as well as helping the region’s economy grow.” The company chose Hyderabad over other US locations as well as Taipei, Mexico and Bengaluru because it had the right ecosystem.

450 techies and over 150 partners work from the GCC currently for the auto parts manufacturer. Originally scheduled to open in 2019, the GCC in Hyderabad was unable to be inaugurated due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
