At the World Environmental & Water Resources Congress in Henderson, Nevada, United States, Industries Minister KT Rama Rao will highlight Telangana’s success in water resource management, particularly the Kaleshwaram project and Mission Bhagiratha.
On Tuesday morning, the Minister left for the United States. The Minister will deliver the inaugural address at the World Environmental & Water Resources Congress for the second time, from May 21 to 25. In 2017, the Minister attended the prestigious annual event held in Sacramento, US.
The Minister had been invited to deliver the keynote address by the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Environmental and Water Resources Institute (ASCE—EWRI). The ASCE-EWRI leadership team stated in the invitation letter that they would like to hear about the story of the process that led to the speedy completion of mega projects and their role in transforming Telangana’s landscape.
The American Society of Civil Engineers represents over 150,000 civil engineering professionals from 177 countries. ASCE is America’s oldest engineering society, having been founded in 1852.
An EWRI delegation visited the Kaleshwaram project last year and was impressed by the size of the project and the speed with which it was completed.
Before departing for the US, the Minister stated that it was an honor to represent Telangana’s Kaleshwaram project at ASCE-EWRI. Telangana achieved remarkable results in the irrigation sector under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. Rama Rao stated that a drought-prone state has now become fertile as a result of the Chief Minister’s vision and commitment.
The Minister will meet with corporate representatives in five states as part of his US tour. The tour is expected to last until the end of the month, and several companies are expected to make announcements about their investments in Telangana.
