In a bizarre incident highlighting administrative negligence, the owner of a building housing the Sub-Registrar Office in Abdullapurmet Mandal, Ranga Reddy district, Telangana, locked the office premises over non-payment of rent by the government.
The landlord, identified as Raju, claimed that rent has not been paid since 2022. Frustrated by the prolonged delay and lack of response from the Registration Department, Raju said he had no choice but to shut down the office. “I’ve been facing financial distress for years now. Since the government has not cleared my dues, I decided to lock the premises,” he told reporters.
He has demanded immediate payment of the pending rent, warning that the office will remain shut until his demands are met.

Citizens have appealed to the administration to intervene and reopen the Sub-Registrar Office to prevent further disruption of essential services.
