Every Lucky Ali song is bound to hit the right notes in your hearts and the viral video of the yesteryear singer singing his infamous song ‘O Sanam’ has made netizens turn back the pages of the times when Lucky Ali songs topped their playlists.
Though the singer hasn’t lost a bit of the charm he possessed back then, the rather saddening element noticed by many is the fact that the singer has turned 62 years old.
For many, it seemed like yesterday when Lucky Ali appeared in his only Bollywood movie, Sur, where he played the role of a music teacher. The movie bestowed the brilliant song ‘Aa bhi jaa’, which is still considered gold.
A viral video has been doing the rounds of the internet where the singer is singing his soulful song ‘O Sanam’. What’s better? This is an unplugged version with Lucky Ali also playing the guitar while giving his melodious voice, not changed a percent but aged, to the beautiful lyrics.
The reason for the video getting shared on all social media platforms so vividly is what the singer does when he comes across a particular line of the song.
For people unaware of the lyrics of the 1996 hit song, there are two sentences in the third paragraph which are, “Nazro se ab na hum ko girana, mar bhi gaye toh bhool na jaana.” (Don’t think less of me and even if I die, don’t forget me.)
When Lucky Ali reaches the line, “mar bhi gaye..”, he stops there, tearfully looks at the camera, unable to continue the rest of the phrase. Yet, he recomposes himself, gives his charismatic smile and goes ahead to complete the rest of the song, skipping just that one line mentioning death.
This made netizens emotionally ponder on the singer’s increasing age and many also urged Kapil Sharma to invite him on his comedy show.
Rahul Dev, a yesteryear actor mostly seen in the roles of a protagonist in movies, retweeted Lucky Ali’s video and wrote, “Gifted man .. strummin from his heart … feel u my friend #LuckyAli … Happy Deepavali.”
Eijaz Khan, a Big Boss contestant and actor, also shared the video with the caption, “Lots of Love to our favourite #LuckyAli”
The video gained tens of thousands of views since it was posted on Instagram by Lucky Ali himself and later by his fans over the internet. It has gained over 187k likes till now. Many users also commented on his video with one saying, “Still gives the same feeling”, while another wrote, “This hit differently”. Users also commented, “Such a soulful voice”, “Your music is magic”, “90’s nostalgia, the best indi pop singer”.
Lucky Ali also has infamous songs like Ahista Ahista from Bachna Ae Haseeno, Safarnama from Tamasha, Ek Pal Ka Jeena of Kaho Na Pyar Hai and many others to his name where he rendered his beautiful voice.
