The Central government is accelerating railway infrastructure development in Telangana with new railway lines and station upgrades. Among the key projects, Mahbubnagar railway station is set for a complete transformation, featuring modern facilities and enhanced passenger amenities.
As part of the initiative, the Railway Ministry has announced the construction of a new train line between Vikarabad and Krishna. Additionally, over 30 railway stations across Telangana are being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme.
The Cherlapalli railway terminal, built at a cost of over ₹450 crore, is one of the major projects completed, while the redevelopment of Secunderabad railway station is currently underway.

For Mahbubnagar railway station, authorities have finalized a design that includes a new building to replace the existing Nizam-era structure. The modernization plan aims to bring world-class infrastructure, with enhanced connectivity through the already completed double line between Mahbubnagar and Secunderabad.
The redevelopment will also feature a dedicated car parking area, separate roads for vehicle movement, and a revamped main entrance near the first platform. Two new loop lines will further enhance train operations at the station.
