Yogender Rajput, a resident of Borabanda, Madhya Pradesh, was caught by police on Friday in Cherlapally, Medchal district, Telangana, for illegally possessing guns. During his arrest, authorities recovered a homemade handgun and three live rounds in his hands. Rajput moved to Hyderabad in 2007 in quest of better possibilities and began working as a driver for Kushal Logistics in Krishna Nagar.
Rajput entered into entrepreneurship in 2018, establishing Yogi Raj Security Services, which was initially based in Kondapur before being relocated to Borabanda. It was during this period that he met Shaik Shareef Moula-La-Ali, the director of E-Pro Solutions. Shareef had asked Rajput to arrange 25 security guards for the event.
However, a disagreement erupted between Rajput and Shareef when the latter failed to pay the agreed-upon price for Rajput’s security services. Their relationship deteriorated as a result of their argument. In reaction, Rajput allegedly devised a plan to assassinate Shareef with the illegal firearm.
To obtain the rifle, Rajput travelled to the Madhya Pradesh district of Ashok Nagar, where he met his friend, Lallu Sharma, who had links with local firearms vendors. Sharma worked as a go-between, facilitating Rajput’s purchase of a country-made handgun and three live rounds for Rs 20,000 from an arms dealer.
Rajput confronted Shareef on ECIL X road about three months ago, carrying the pistol. He sought the money Shareef owed him. However, Shareef promised to pay the money the next day, forcing Rajput to postpone his plan to injure him.
On Friday, the Malkajgiri Special Operations Team, working in coordination with Cherlapally police, caught Rajput as he drove suspiciously near the Cherlapally railway bridge. During the arrest, the police seized the countrymade handgun, three live rounds, and the four-wheeler.
Yogender Rajput has been charged under the Arms Act at the Cherlapally police station. The inquiry will continue to unearth any new information on the unlawful possession of firearms and the alleged scheme.
