Hyderabad: One Mohammad Qayyum Qureshi, 42, of Jalpally village under Balapur Mandal, was convicted and sentenced to five years’ rigorous imprisonment for making murder attempt on his son Mohammed Khaled Qureshi, 18, on March 5, following family disputes.
Following a complaint, the Pahadisharif police under Rachakonda Commissionerate, registered a case under Section 307 IPC. Prosecution said while the victim was sleeping alone in his house, the accused, who is his father, went to him and chopped his right hand wrist with a butcher’s knife, due to which the son had to undergo amputation of his right hand.
After completion of investigation into the case, K. Muthyam Reddy, SI, Pahadisharif PS, filed a charge-sheet in the Court. After the trial, II ASJ at LB Nagar today convicted Mohammad Qayyum Qureshi to undergo imprisonment for five years and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 1,000.(NSS)
