The world-renowned Buddhist heritage theme park developed by Telangana Tourism at Nagarjunasagar, Nalgonda district will host sessions on Buddhist Meditation from Sunday (June 19).
Buddhavanam Special Officer Mallepalli Laxmaiah says meditation sessions will take place every Sunday.
Meditation sessions will be held at the Mahastupa on Buddhavanam campus on the first floor under the guidance of trained Vipassana instructors in association with Dhamma Nagarjuna Vipassana centre, Nagarjunasagar.
Four half-hour sessions will be held from 12.00 noon to 12.30 pm, 12.30 pm to 1.00 pm in the forenoon, and from 4.00 to 4.30 pm and 4.30 to 5.30 pm in the afternoon.

In a recent statement, Mallepally Laxmaiah said that because of the commitment of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the park has flourished into an international Buddhist theme park.
Laxmaiah said the Chief Minister visited Buddhavanam in 2015 and expressed dissatisfaction with its condition during the 2566th Buddha Jayanthi (Buddha Purnima) in Nagarjuna Sagar.
In addition, he had also sanctioned the necessary funds for Buddhavanam’s development. A visit to Buddhavanam should be made by everyone at least once in their lives, he said.
It is said that the structures in Buddhavanam are replicas of structures and sculptures in Bodh Gaya, where Buddha attained enlightenment under a sacred Bodhi Tree, in Sarnath, where he gave his first sermon, and at Kushinagar, where he attained Mahaparinirvana after his death.
Throughout its history, Buddhavanam has been a holy place for Buddhists. It was developed as a reminder of important events in Buddha’s life.
Mysore Buddhist guru Gese Narg Wang said Buddhavanam would attract Buddhists worldwide. Buddhist monks from Maha Bhodi Society and Ananda Buddha Vihara also participated in the Buddha Jayanthi celebrations. The celebrations were attended by Haryana Special Chief Secretary Rajasekhar and others.
