Metro Warns People Against Crossing Rail Tracks

Hyderabad : Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) M D NVS Reddy today said in view of high speed and increased frequency of Metro trains the passengers should not cross rail tracks and use facilities provided at metro stations. Metro trains are now running at a high speed and increased frequency and therefore crossing the rail tracks is very dangerous for passengers, Reddy warned and pointed out that fatal accidents have occurred in similar incidents in some other Metros.

Trespassing/crossing rail tracks is punishable offence under Metro Act up to Rs. 500/- penalty and / 6 months of imprisonment, he further warned. Few such incidences have been observed where passengers crossed the rail track to go to other platform, the MD said and  advised everyone not to do so and instead use lift/escalator/staircase to go down to concourse level to go to the right platform.(NSS)
