Minister launches helicopter services to Medaram for biennial tribal fair

Hyderabad: Tourism & Culture Minister V Srinivas Goud today launched helicopter services from Hyderabad to Medaram where Sammakka-Sarakka Jathara will begin on February 5 in Mulugu area of old Warangal district.  Accompanied by Tourism Secretary B Venkatesham and others, the minister formally flagged off the helicopter service from Begumpet Airport to Medaram fair site.

Talking to media persons later, Srinivas Goud said six persons can travel at a time for a package by paying Rs 1.8 lakh in addition to GST. The amount is for to and Rs 3,000 will be charged to see the nearby areas through the aerial view. The service is offered for speedy travel and free darshan of deities at Medaram in the forest area. He appealed to people to use the helicopter facility to visit Medaram and other  Telangana tourist places like the historic Ramappa Temple in Warangal, which is under UNESCO team observation.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is likely to visit Medaram on February 7 and offer special prayers to the goddesses on that day.  The minister said the district administration made all arrangements for the biennial tribal fair. The State government has spent about Rs 75 crore for making all facilities in Medaram Katharina. About one crore people and devotees from tribal districts and neighboring states are expected to participate.
