Mobile based Destination Alert Wake-Up call for Train Passengers

A quite interesting feature has been introduced by railways to rail passengers especially for those passengers who were in to deep sleep and miss their destination station. A Mobile based alert in the form of IVR or SMS will be given to passengers before the train reaches destination.

Passengers can know when their destination station has arrived by setting a wake-up alarm call. You will receive a call half-an-hour before the scheduled arrival at your station.

Destination alert facility has been provided in selected trains wherein Short Message Service (SMS) alert is sent to the reserved passengers 20 minutes before actual arrival on the station where passenger will de-board the train during night hours i.e. 2300 hours in the night to 0700 hours in the morning. Destination alert facility is also available through 139 wherein reserved passengers can set destination alert on 139 Railway Enquiry Service Interactive Voice Response (IVR), 139 Railway Enquiry service with assistance from customer service executive and through SMS 139 with one simple keyword. The user receives a confirmation message on his mobile number as Destination Alert Call has been set on your mobile number for destination station name.

A simple one step process to go and it is chargeable…Set your alarm in 3 different ways…

1. Call IVR 139 and select ‘Destination Alert ‘option and enter PNR number. PNR number will be verified and the system will then set destination station alert on your mobile number.

2. Call 139 and select an option of transferring call to customer service agent and request to set ‘Destination Alert’ alarm.

3. Send SMS request as ALERT . A wake-up alarm call will be set on your mobile number as per your PNR number. When it is done, you will receive an SMS based on the details and Destination Alert call will be set on your mobile.

Call Charges for calling 139:

Destination Alert and Wake-Up Alarm alert on your mobile is chargeable and call charges are specified below.

From Landline:

Rs. 1.20 for a pulse of 180 seconds for calls from Metro cities while for calls from non-metro cities/areas the charges are Rs. 1.20 for a pulse of 60 seconds.

From Mobile:

Rs. 1.20 for a pulse of 60 seconds for calls from Metro cities while for calls from non-metro cities/areas the charges are Rs. 2 for a pulse of 60 seconds.

SMS:

SMS (Pull) cost is Rs. 3 per SMS.
