Modi Never Said SCS Would Be Given To AP: Kanna

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh State BJP president Kanna Lakshminarayana today claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi never said Special Category Status (SCS) would be given to Andhra Pradesh.

Kanna was speaking at a function organized to felicitate Sheik Baji on being appointed as national secretary of BJP Minority Morcha. The AP BJP chief said the Centre had announced a special package for AP on demand by Chandrababu Naidu, who had given consent for the package. The Chief Minister did not raise the issue of SCS till he was with the NDA. But later, he took a U turn for his political reasons and compulsions, Kanna alleged.

Lakshminarayana said the Centre wanted to help develop Andhra Pradesh by extending support to construction of Polavaram project. But, Chandrababu Naidu indulged in financial irregularities in the project, the BJP leader accused. It was unfortunate that credit for Central government’s welfare programs was being taken by the Chandrababu Naidu government, which was propagating that the Central welfare schemes as their own, Kanna alleged.
