The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued a notice to renowned Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan in response to a petition filed against her latest pregnancy memoir titled “Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible.” This notice comes after an advocate approached the court, contesting the use of the word “bible” in the book’s title.
A single-judge bench led by Justice Gurpal Singh Ahluwalia took action on the petition submitted by advocate Christopher Anthony, prompting a request for clarification from the actor regarding the inclusion of the term “bible” in the title. Notices have also been extended to the book’s sellers following Mr. Anthony’s plea for a ban on its sale.
Mr. Anthony, a social worker hailing from Jabalpur, has asserted in his petition that the utilization of the word “bible” in the title is offensive to the sentiments of the Christian community. “Bible holds immense sacred value for Christians worldwide, and juxtaposing Kareena Kapoor Khan’s pregnancy journey with it is inappropriate,” he remarked. Mr. Anthony has further alleged that the actor employed this term to garner unwarranted attention for her book.

Originally published in 2021, the book encapsulates the 43-year-old actor’s personal pregnancy journey while also offering guidance and tips for expectant mothers on various aspects of prenatal care.
Initially, the petitioner approached the police seeking to file a First Information Report (FIR) against the actor. However, when his request was turned down, he pursued legal action by filing a complaint in a lower court. Despite his efforts, his plea was dismissed by both the lower court and the Additional Sessions Court on the grounds of insufficient evidence demonstrating the alleged offensiveness of the book’s title.
