Muslim Cab driver in Hyderabad allegedly had his car attacked and was made to yell “Jai Shree Ram”

On Saturday night, a Muslim man claims that several unidentified individuals harassed and coerced him into saying “Jai Shree Ram” on the Shaikpet-Alkapur road.

Uber driver Syed Latifuddin said in a video uploaded on YouTube by Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan that he was picking up a customer from Shaikpet via the Alkapur route when a few protesters began pelting his car’s windows.

“There was a roadblock, but I drove right past them. I was followed by the men. Four were on an Activa, while two were on a bullet. When they got to my car, they started hurling rocks at it and insisted I yell “Jai Shree Ram.” I punched one of them and took off running. A small group had gathered around me as a result of my calling for assistance, and they escorted me back to the car, the man said in the video.

The MBT leader questioned Latif on why he did not call the cops if this had truly occurred. “I did call the cops, but no one answered.” “They arrived after an hour,” he said.

In another video, the MBT leader surveyed the damage to Lateefuddin’s car. He also spoke with someone who claimed to have rushed to the scene after hearing the commotion on Saturday night.

On Sunday afternoon, Lateefuddin and Amjed Ullah Khan went to the location and met with police officials. Khan demanded that police identify the attackers and take immediate action.

Around 3:30 a.m., he called 100. Nearly half an hour passed before the police arrived. Despite their assurances, the Narsingi police never arrived,” Lateef said.

It took nearly an hour for the police to arrive. In the meantime, Lateef’s perpetrators damaged his car severely. All of the glass and window shields in the car were completely shattered.

He hid in the bushes in complete darkness for nearly an hour until the police arrived. “As it was night, the bike numbers cannot be seen in the CCTV footage,” said Mateen, Lateef’s brother.

At the Narsingi police station, an FIR has been registered and an investigation is underway.
