Muslim Organizations Set Up Free Medical Camp for Devotees at Palani Murugan Temple

In a heartwarming display of interfaith solidarity, Muslim organizations in Tamil Nadu have set up a free medical camp to assist the thousands of devotees making the arduous journey to the Palani Murugan temple as part of the Thai Poonam festival.

The camp, organized by the Quaid-E-Millat Foundation and Pudhu Ayakudi Jamat, is aimed at providing much-needed support to pilgrims, particularly the elderly and women, who often struggle with exhaustion, dehydration, and leg pain during their long trek to the temple. The camp offers a range of essential services, including water, electrolytes, first aid, and pain relief balms, ensuring the well-being of the devotees as they continue their spiritual journey.

This marks the third consecutive year that the Muslim groups have organized the medical camp for the Thai Poonam festival, which sees lakhs of devotees walking for miles to the temple. The initiative has been well-received by pilgrims, with many expressing gratitude for the relief provided.

Ajmat Ali, representing the Quaid-E-Millat Foundation, shared the significance of the camp, stating, “We have been conducting this medical camp for devotees visiting Palani Murugan temple for the third year, providing them with water and first-aid. We are doing this to create religious harmony between our community.”

For many devotees, the medical camp has been a vital source of support during their journey. Ramesh, a devotee who had been walking for five days from Pudukottai, expressed his appreciation, saying, “This camp has provided us with much-needed relief. We are grateful for the kindness and care shown by the Muslim organizations.”

Thilagavathy, another devotee, praised the initiative for its consistency and dedication. “Every year, Muslims set up this medical camp here. I have seen them providing medicines, massages if required, and treating blisters caused by continuous walking,” she said.

The free medical camp stands as a shining example of community service, fostering a spirit of unity and religious harmony while offering essential support to those in need. As the Thai Poonam festival continues, the medical camp remains a beacon of hope for countless devotees undertaking their spiritual journey to the Palani Murugan temple.
