The Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad witnessed a remarkable footfall of nearly 24,000 visitors on Sunday, as families and wildlife enthusiasts chose the zoo as a summer holiday destination amid pleasant weather.
With the onset of the summer vacation, the zoo became a major attraction in the city. Anticipating the surge, the zoo authorities made elaborate arrangements to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.
According to Dr. Sunil S Hiremath, Director of Zoo Parks, Telangana, the management deployed additional security personnel, set up extra ticket counters, arranged battery-operated vehicles, and installed drinking water units across the premises. Despite minor waiting times due to the crowd, the zoo staff efficiently managed the situation.

The Nehru Zoological Park is home to over 2,300 animals across 194 species, making it one of India’s premier zoological destinations. Notably, it is India’s first zoo to organize animals in zoological order within open enclosures, providing a near-natural habitat for the animals.
To promote wildlife conservation awareness, the zoo conducted interactive animal talks and reptile awareness shows, aimed at educating visitors about the importance of protecting wildlife and maintaining ecological balance.
In alignment with World Environment Day, the zoo is actively promoting the message ‘End Plastic Pollution’. Visitors were encouraged to support a plastic-free zoo environment, underscoring the link between sustainable practices and a healthy planet.
Dr. Hiremath and the entire zoo team expressed their gratitude to the public for making the Nehru Zoo Park their destination of choice, highlighting its role in education, conservation, and family recreation.
