New U.S. Defense Secretary Accused of Chanting ‘Kill All Muslims,’ Report Says

Pete Hegseth, recently confirmed as the new U.S. Defense Secretary, has been accused of chanting “Kill All Muslims” at a bar in Ohio in May 2015, as well as allegations of sexual misconduct, according to a report by The New Yorker. These accusations come on top of a range of other claims, including the creation of a toxic work environment and being intoxicated while performing official duties.

Hegseth, a former Fox News personality, military veteran, and conspiracy theorist, was confirmed in his new role after a narrow Senate vote that required Vice President JD Vance’s tiebreaking vote. The confirmation came despite the resurfacing of serious allegations about his behavior during his time as president of Concerned Veterans for America between 2013 and 2016.

The whistleblower report, which was previously undisclosed, sheds light on accusations made against Hegseth during his tenure at the veterans’ organization. The most shocking of these allegations involves a claim that he drunkenly chanted “Kill All Muslims! Kill All Muslims!” while at a bar in Ohio on May 29, 2015. These claims were first reported last month by The New Yorker.

When confronted about the accusations during a Senate Committee on Armed Services confirmation hearing on January 14, Hegseth dismissed them as “anonymous false claims.” However, U.S. Democratic Senator Tim Kaine pointed out that many of the accusations were not made anonymously, challenging Hegseth’s denial.

Additionally, during the same hearing, Hegseth was asked about his stance on Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza. His response was unequivocal: “I support Israel destroying and killing every last member of Hamas.” This comment reflects his long-standing and controversial views on the conflict, which are also outlined in his 2020 book American Crusade, where he describes Islam as a historic enemy of the West.

These developments have raised significant questions about Hegseth’s qualifications and conduct, with many critics expressing concern over the serious nature of the accusations. Despite the controversies, Hegseth’s confirmation as Defense Secretary moves forward, though the allegations continue to shadow his new role.
