No ‘Bulldozer Raj’ in Telangana, KT Rama Rao to Mallikarjun Kharge

KT Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), urged Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to ensure that Telangana does not suffer the same fate as areas under what he described as a “Bulldozer Raj” during Congress rule. KTR voiced deep concern over the actions of the Congress-led government in Telangana, accusing it of violating legal procedures and rendering the poor homeless through unauthorized demolitions.

In a pointed statement, KTR recalled Kharge’s previous condemnation of similar actions in other states, where he had labeled the demolition of homes and displacement of families as both inhumane and unjust. KTR questioned whether Kharge supports the current Congress government’s actions in Telangana, which he claimed mirror these injustices.

KTR highlighted a recent incident in Mahbubnagar town where 75 houses belonging to impoverished families were demolished at 3 a.m. without any prior notice. This action, KTR emphasized, left 25 of the affected families physically disabled and homeless. The BRS leader criticized the Congress government for conducting such demolitions without following due legal processes, which he described as a “modern-day civilisational abomination.”

“Law without due process is not law but a modern-day civilisational abomination,” KTR stated. He questioned how Congress leadership could justify demolishing homes of families who have lived there for 20 to 40 years without issuing any notices.

KTR’s statement underscores the growing tensions between the BRS and Congress, highlighting the political implications of the Congress government’s actions in Telangana. He urged Kharge to advise the Congress government in Telangana against allowing the state to become another example of the harsh “Bulldozer Raj” he criticized elsewhere.

The controversy reflects broader concerns about governance and the treatment of vulnerable populations, with KTR calling for immediate action to protect the rights and homes of Telangana’s poor residents.
