District Collector Ila Tripathi clarified that, contrary to earlier media reports, the students of PA Pally Model School who fell ill were not affected by food poisoning. She assured that their condition was stable and the cause of their illness was not related to foodborne contamination.
On Tuesday, four students from PA Pally Model School were hospitalized after experiencing abdominal pain and other symptoms. The affected students were immediately shifted to Devarkonda Area Hospital for treatment. Upon learning of the incident, Collector Tripathi visited the hospital to meet the students and speak with them directly.
In a media interaction, the Collector confirmed that the students had not suffered from food poisoning, as initially suspected. “The students had complained of abdominal pain, and after undergoing medical tests, it was confirmed that their health condition is stable,” she stated. “Doctors at the hospital provided all necessary treatment, and they are recovering.”

The Tahsildar of PA Pally, J Srinivasarao, also submitted a report to the Devarkonda Revenue Divisional Officer, which ruled out food poisoning as the cause of the illness. According to the report, the students had complained that the rice they were served was of poor quality, but no signs of food poisoning were found.
Additionally, five students from Dugyala Model School, including Poojita, Maunika, Malleshwari, Nikhita, and Kommu Harini, also fell ill on Tuesday evening. They experienced vomiting and sought initial treatment from Dr. Paramesh, an RMP doctor at PA Palli, before being referred to Devarkonda Area Hospital for further care.
After consulting the affected students, the Tahsildar learned that they had been experiencing inadequate food quality for the past two to three days, which likely led to the health incident. The students had only consumed breakfast that morning and had not eaten again until later, which led to dehydration and illness.
In response to the incidents, District Collector Ila Tripathi, Devarkonda RDO Ramana Reddy, DSP, Gudipalli MEO, and the hospital team visited the affected students at Devarkonda Area Hospital. Medical professionals confirmed there were no signs of food poisoning after conducting thorough tests, and the students are now recovering.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and ensure that students’ welfare is properly addressed, with a focus on improving food quality and availability to prevent future incidents.
