To provide Rs 5 lakh insurance to farmers, the government was preparing a new application. This new application will be installed in the laptops or tablets given to Agriculture officials at the district level and used across the State.
Arrangements have been made in all the districts to collect the details of the farmers, who have already received cheques and passbooks under Rythu Bandhu Scheme. The details of each farmer will be incorporated in the gadgets given and the application will be useful for the proper implementation of the Rs 5 lakh insurance scheme to be effective from August 15 in Telangana. As per the directive of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the officials concerned are busy collecting data pertaining to those farmers, who received cheques and passbooks under Rythu Bandhu Scheme (RBS).
Principal Secretary of Agriculture Partha Sarathi has directed the officials to speed up the process of collecting data for the new application that will supplement to the forthcoming insurance scheme for the farmers. Insurance application with farmers details, including nominee and insurance with premium and others are being collected by the Agriculture officials. The government will pay the premium on behalf of the farmers to get Rs 5 lakh insurance. As per the Revenue department details, the insurance data was printed in two languages by the Agriculture department.
The application which began on Monday will continue in all the districts as per plan, the officials said. The farmers who are the beneficiaries of RBS and having received the cheques and passbooks will get the insurance. Other farmers, who failed to get the same due to lack of Aadhar and for other reasons will also get the same based on the correct information being collected by the Agriculture officials. The farmers between 18 and 59 years are eligible for the insurance coverage from the government.
