With the recent controversies of the Pegasus scam, eighteen leaders of the like-minded opposition parties on Wednesday issued a joint statement and demanded further discussions on the issue.
Opposition Demands Discussions On Pegasus, Farmers’ Issues
As per the latest reports, the statement read that the opposition parties are standing firm and united on their demands regarding the discussions on both the Houses. The statement said that the parties are willing to discuss the issues of Pegasus has it national security dimensions.
Furthermore, the opposition also conveyed that the Pegasus issue discussions should further be followed by farmers’ issues and agitations arising throughout the three anti-farmers and black agri-laws. This comes after the Parliament went under a standstill after a suspended member of the parliament refused to leave the session.
Opposition Accuses Government Of Being “Arrogant and Obdurate”
The statement added that it is unfortunate that the government has (reportedly) unleashed a misleading campaign to malign the “combined opposition”. And then further blame it on the opposition to disrupt the Parliament. It said that the responsibility of a deadlock lies at the doorsteps of the government which continues to remain “arrogant and obdurate”. Following this, the government has refused to accept the demands of the opposition for an informed debate.
The opposition also said, “It urges the government to respect parliamentary democracy and accept the discussions.”
