Pass bill increasing ST quota to 10 percent: KCR demands to PM Modi

In a statement on Saturday, Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to increase the Scheduled Tribe reservation quota from five percent to ten percent.

“Since more than seven years ago, the state Assembly has passed a unanimous resolution calling on the center to raise the Adivasi reservation quota to ten percent. PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, who have arrived here to indulge in divisive politics, what is stopping you from passing the bill? As soon as the President of India signs the bill, we will release the G.O. within 5 minutes. Our Adivasis will have a better life,” he said.

Also, the chief minister announced that agricultural land has been identified for Adivasis cultivating on Podu lands. There have been committees set up. Recently, the government passed G.O. 140 for the same. Send us the reports from villages so that these Podu lands can be regularized. Also, Raitu Bandhu will be provided to them, KCR said.

Also on Saturday afternoon, KCR inaugurated Komaram Bheem Adivasi Bhavan and Sevalal Banjara Bhavan.

As per the reports, the Sevalal Banjara Building cost Rs 24.43 crore, while Komaram Bheem Adivasi Bhavan cost Rs 24.68 crore. These buildings began construction in 2016-17.

Besides establishing Komaram Bheem’s memorial at Jodeghat, the State government also established the Sammakka-Saralamma museum in Medaram to exhibit Koya tribal culture and traditions. According to officials, the government has spent Rs 22.53 crore on museum construction.

A total of 32 Adivasi and Banjara buildings have been constructed across the state for a cost of Rs 75.86 crore, including three in Hyderabad and ten in district centers. According to officials, these structures are located in 12 constituency centers in ST.
