Hyderabad: Finance Minister T Harish Rao today slammed the Congress and the BJP for their comments on the budget and said it has smashed their hopes of poor allocations.
As per directions from Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao the budget proposals and allocations are made for all sections.
Replying to the two-day discussion on the debate in the Legislative Assembly, Harish Rao has alleged that the opposition parties are trying to corner the ruling party. The Congress hoped that the government will reduce the funds due to economic slowdown, he said. However, the budgetary allocations proved otherwise as welfare, agriculture, irrigation, and infrastructure are key for rapid growth.
The government is offering pension to 40 lakh people and increased its share by offering the same to those of 57 years age now, he said.
A staggering Rs 40000 crore for welfare programs alone was being offered while no other states dare to spend such huge funds, he claimed.
The minister said that towards the marriage scheme of Kalyaan Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak, the government offered benefits to four lakhs of families so far. While center expenditure of investment is just 12 percent, Telangana has 30 percent.
‘We aim to make total use of Krishna and Godavari waters to boost irrigation for agriculture production. Farmers raised crops in 78.42 lakh acres and the IT sector is number one in the country’.
While the Congress allotted Rs 40000 crore for irrigation, we plan to spend Rs 1.25 lakh crore and the center is surprised at the completion of Kaleshwaram and other irrigation projects
We get loans for development as per FRBM norms and spend accordingly and the Government allotted Rs 500 crore for temples development, he added.
Harish Rao said that the people were not disappointed with the Budget, but the opposition leaders were. He said the Government was providing 24 hours power supply to agriculture and all other sectors. He also said that under the stewardship of IT Minister KT Rama Rao, tremendous progress was achieved in the IT sector of the State.
