PM Modi Bonds With Goa “Chaiwala” During Virtual Interaction

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has never shied away from his past that he used to sell tea at a railway station in Gujarat as a child. Recently, he bonded with a ‘chaiwala’ from Goa during a virtual interaction on Saturday.

PM Modi Appreciates “Chaiwala’s” Courage

Amongst the many of the beneficiaries of the Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swayampura Goa initiatives, Modi also spoke about Ruki Ahmed who is a person with physical disabilities. He runs a stall in the port town of Vasco which also sells samosas, water, biscuits, chips and tea.

“You are also a chaiwala like me,” Modi quipped during his conversation with Ahmed.

He further lauded Ahmed’s courage and grit which has won him a gold medal in table tennis at the district level para-games. He said that his courage inspires everyone. Since people have given them a chance to serve, they are trying their best to ensure that the divyangs in the country can live with utmost respect.

He added that the country has seen that the para-atheltes have made India proud recently. And since Ahmed is also an athlete, the government will help him to overcome shortcomings.

“Make Goa proud,” Modi also said.

PM Modi Calls Goa Government “Double Engine”

PM Narendra Modi on Saturday held a virtual association with recipients of the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa” program. Talking on the event, PM Modi depicted Goa as another model of improvement, adding that under Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the state assumed a main part in executing plans of the central government.

Talking about the plan, he said that Goa has all that is needed for Aatmanirbhar Bharat. This, PM Modi said, was conceivable because of “double-engine” government, alluding to his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) being in power both at the Center and the waterfront state.

PM Modi further said that in the coming years, food handling industry will be the probably the greatest strength of the Swayampurna program. “Particularly in the field of fish handling, Goa can turn into the nation’s solidarity. India’s fish comes to worldwide business sectors in the wake of being handled in east Asian nations. To change this, the fisheries area, interestingly, is being given help at a huge scope,” he added.
