Ponnam resents TRS MPs’ silence in Parliament over assurances in AP Reorganization Act

Hyderabad: Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar has alleged that the TRS MPs were behaving like inefficient leaders in Parliament while the Andhra Pradesh MPs were fighting in both the Houses fiercely demanding Special Category Status to their State.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, Ponnam questioned silence of the TRS for the last four years on the assurances mentioned in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. He also alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who was afraid of CBI case, entered into an internal agreement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prabhakar feared that the TRS government would not convene an all-party meeting and would not fight on its own against the Centre. He also questioned whether the TRS was playing Opposition party role or ruling party role.

Ponnam said former Congress MPs would stage a protest at Gandhi statue on Parliament premises on the APR assurances. “We will decide the date very soon. We will announce our stand on TRS party’s attitude towards the Centre after meeting all the Opposition parties”, he added. (NSS)
