Hyderabad: Reminding Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy’s statement that former minister Danam Nagender was a land grabber, former MP Ponnam Prabhakar today questioned the ruling TRS party as to why it admitted such a criminal into the party.
Finding fault with Danam criticizing the party, which gave him political birth, Ponnam said the BCs like him were happy in the party. The Congress party has given high positions to the BCs, he said.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Ponnam said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao could admit Danam into his party only after answering to Home Minister’s remarks against Danam in the past. He also suggested that Danam Nagender stop criticizing Congress.
Stating that Valigonda incident was a sad one, Ponnam extended sympathies to the families of the victims and demanded that the government extend Rs.15 lakh ex gratia to kin of each deceased.
TPCC general secretary Mahesh Goud alleged that Danam Nagender was moving around upper caste people. Danam was a leader, who runs away when he hears a word BCs and their problems. He also said the people knew very well as to what positions he was given by the Congress party. (NSS)
