Popular Hyderabad Restaurants Face Food Safety Violations

Three well-known food outlets in Hyderabad have come under scrutiny by Telangana food safety officials for operating in unsanitary conditions. During an inspection on Friday, officials flagged multiple violations, including poor hygiene, expired food items, and improper waste management.

Hotel Tulips Grand in Hayathnagar was found to have severely unhygienic cooking and storage areas. Inspectors noted the absence of a proper drainage system in the kitchen and a lack of pest control records. Additionally, expired products such as mushrooms, ice cream, poppy seeds, and meat were reportedly being used.

Varalaxmi Tiffins, a popular tiffin center in Gachibowli, was flagged for unclean kitchen walls, broken flooring, and clogged drains. Officials also found uncovered dustbins, inadequate food storage facilities, and evidence of rats outside the kitchen. The exhaust system was coated with grease, with oil dripping from it.

Furthermore, the outlet lacked a water analysis report and medical fitness certificates for its food handlers, which are mandatory for food safety compliance. Kshatriya Foods in Madhapur was also pulled up for dirty flooring, broken tiles, and stagnant water in its kitchen. Officials found the chimneys covered in grease and the drainage system clogged.

A large number of houseflies were observed in the kitchen, and the use of synthetic food colors was flagged as a violation. Additionally, refrigerators were found to be unhygienic, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian food stored together. Food handlers were not wearing head caps and gloves, and important food safety records were missing.

Food safety officials have warned that strict action will be taken against establishments that fail to meet hygiene and safety standards. They urged all food businesses to adhere to proper sanitation practices to ensure public health and safety.

With the rising concerns over food hygiene, customers are advised to be cautious when dining out and report any suspected violations to authorities.
