TS Planning Board Vice-Chairman B Vinod Kumar said the state is supplying current at a record level to various sectors.
He stated that the growth of the power sector is moving in a positive direction and that Telangana has managed to reach a position where uninterrupted power is being supplied by overcoming the problem of frequent power outages.
Vinod Kumar attended Vidyut Dinostavam, a Telangana formation day celebration, at the Padmanayaka function hall in Sircilla on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, he stated that the domestic, commercial, industrial, and agricultural sectors were receiving 24 hours of uninterrupted power. It was a major accomplishment for the Telangana government.
In united Andhra Pradesh, the power sector in Telangana had been neglected. Following the formation of the separate state, much growth was achieved through the establishment of new sub-stations. The state is now focusing on surplus power generation.
With the establishment of new power generation units, substations, and the laying of new power lines, per capita power consumption has reached 2,140 units. It was 70% greater than the national average of 1,255 units.
Telangana was one of the top states in terms of solar power generation. Solar power installed capacity in AP was only 74 MW. However, since the state’s inception, it has grown to 6,274 MW.
He stated that Telangana was the only state that supplied quality current to 27.49 lakh agricultural pump sets, saying that 8.46 lakh new agriculture connections were given after carving out of state
To strengthen the power sector, a total of Rs 97,321 crore was spent. While Rs 11,500 crore was spent for agricultural and domestic subsidy current, Rs 39,321 crore was spent for power generation.
A 6,435 MW power supply system was established to run large irrigation projects such as the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation and Palamuru Rangareddy projects, and a 6,454 MW power supply system was developed to meet the needs of ongoing projects. He also stated that plans were being developed to meet the 820 MW demand in the future.
TSCAB Chairman Konduri Ravinder Rao, ZP Chairperson Nyalakonda Aruna, Collector Anurag Jayanthi and others were present.
