Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, known as the ‘Challenging Star’, has been arrested and remanded to six days of police custody in connection with the murder of Renuka Swamy. The arrest has brought significant developments in the case, including claims from Swamy’s wife, Sahana, that she is three months pregnant and demanding justice for her husband’s death.
Speaking to reporters, a devastated Sahana stated, “We married a year ago, and I am expecting a baby. My husband’s death has left me shattered. How can I lead my life now?” She firmly denied allegations that her husband had sent derogatory messages, stating, “My husband called me on June 8 afternoon. If he had sent derogatory messages on social media, he should have been given a warning. What was the need to kill him? Whether he is an actor or a star, I want justice.”
Reports suggest that Renuka Swamy was allegedly sending derogatory messages to actress Pavithra Gowda, who is Darshan’s girlfriend. However, Swamy’s wife refuted these claims, emphasizing her husband’s innocence.

Darshan and his close friend, actress Pavithra Gowda, were arrested in connection with Swamy’s murder. Police sources revealed that Swamy’s body was discovered in a stormwater drain after being allegedly killed in a shed at Pattanagere under Kamakshipalya police station limits.
Darshan, a prominent figure in the Kannada film industry with hits like ‘Kariya’, ‘Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna’, ‘Kalasipalya’, ‘Gaja’, ‘Navagraha’, ‘Saarathi’, ‘Bulbul’, ‘Yajamana’, ‘Robert’, and ‘Kaatera’, was arrested from a hotel in Mysuru.
Swamy, who worked with a pharma company and hailed from Chitradurga, was reportedly targeted for making derogatory comments against Pavithra Gowda on social media. Darshan and twelve others were questioned in connection with the murder.
Renuka Swamy’s parents were inconsolable upon learning of his death. “He was my only son. Last year he got married. I spoke to him on Saturday only. I want justice,” his father Srinivasaiah told reporters.
Following the incident, tight security has been provided at Darshan’s house in RR Nagar. The case continues to unfold as police conduct their investigation.
