Prime Minister Modi Ends Lok Sabha Campaign with Fierce Attack on Opposition

Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his Lok Sabha campaign with a vehement attack on the opposition, warning them not to underestimate him as he could expose the “sins of their seven generations.” Modi’s fiery rhetoric, which has sparked both outrage from critics and support from BJP loyalists, continued to be a central theme in his final rally of the seven-phase elections.

The campaign for the 2024 elections wrapped up on Thursday, with Punjab set to vote in the last phase on June 1.

During his address,Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted his government’s efforts to modernize the Indian army, emphasizing its transformation into a more capable and self-reliant force. He accused leaders of the opposition INDIA bloc of exploiting the armed forces for political gains, labeling it as an unforgivable sin. Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that the armed forces are meant for battle readiness, not mere parades.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi also countered the opposition’s criticism of the ‘Agnipath’ scheme, which facilitates short-term recruitment into the armed forces. Despite not directly mentioning the scheme, he defended its implementation and condemned opposition leaders for promising to abolish it.

“I want to tell INDI Alliance leaders. I am silent but you should not make a mistake in understanding Modi… ‘Modi jis din muh kholega to tumhari saat pidhi ke paap nikaal ke rakh dunga’ (The day Modi opens his mouth, he will bring out the sins of your seven generations),” he declared.

Modi further stated, “You abuse Modi as much as you want but Modi will not tolerate this insult to my country’s armed forces.”

Targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which governs Punjab, Modi compared it to a newborn stealing a nurse’s ring immediately after birth. He insinuated that AAP was inherently corrupt, with roots tracing back to the Congress party, which he accused of institutionalizing corruption in India.

“It took the Congress 60 years to do a PhD in corruption but they (AAP) are born corrupt,” he added.

In the backdrop of the heated exchanges, Modi’s comments underscored the intense rivalry and acrimony that marked the election campaign, setting the stage for the final voting phase in Punjab.
