Priyanka Gandhi expresses unhappiness over ongoing ruckus in Telangana Congress

Priyanka Gandhi, the All India Congress Committee general secretary, is said to have expressed unhappiness over the ongoing conflict in the Telangana unit of the party over appointments to various committees on Monday.

The Congress leader has inquired with AICC secretaries about the dispute between party original leaders and migrants or those who joined Congress from other parties, primarily the TDP, in recent years, and has reportedly invited senior party leaders to Delhi for a discussion on their problems with the Congress leadership.

About eight party leaders have been reportedly asked to visit Delhi post-Christmas as the party leadership is busy with the ongoing Parliament session.

Nadeem Javed was assigned as AICC secretary to Telangana to keep her up to date on party activities in the state. After speaking with leaders in Telangana and noting their objections to the new appointments in the party, Javed returned to Priyanka and is believed to have told her that the aggression among the leaders was serious and could spiral out of control if not addressed immediately.

Before anything else, the party has to get its act together regarding the ‘Haath se haath jodo’ program to be launched from January 26 in all the states where Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra passed through.

Twelve members of the so-called migrant group submitted resignation letters to AICC Telangana Director Manickam Tagore. Both groups are claiming to be doing everything to save Congress.

The leaders are contemplating submitting a representation to AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi outlining their concerns.

Other leaders, who are unhappy with Telangana Congress party chief A Revanth Reddy’s work style and decisions, are also looking to join the informal camp of disgruntled leaders and discuss their issues with the party’s top brass.

A few congress members have criticized Revant for orchestrating the resignations of his close aides or the 12 TDP members who joined the party ranks. They claimed that the district’s top and senior leaders should be allowed to lead the padayatra.
