Amidst the crisis, the Congress in Punjab is all set to welcome an MLA from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who had resigned from the party. AAP is set to be the main competitor for Congress in the state.
AAP MLA Resigns Via Twitter
After a meeting on Tuesday late night with Congress leaders Harish Chaudhary and Navjot Singh Sidhu, AAP MLA Rupinder Kaun Ruby took to Twitter and quit the party. In the tweet, they informed the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of their resignation with immediate effect.
This comes after Congress has been dealing with factions between the party and gave in to Sidhu’s pressure and accepted the resignation from Advocate General APS Deol. However, the decision is being seen as lessening the friction between the Chief Minister Charanjit Channi and the Congress state Chief Navjot Sidhu.

Sidhu has been demanding a replacement for Deol who had represented the former Director General of Police Sumedh Singh Saini in the cases related to sacrilege and the police firing on the protestors in 2015.
In one of the earlier tweets, Sidhu said that any lawyer can become an AG and any IPS officer can become a DG but one must talk about the morals and ethics of the government. As the government has promised the people of Punjab to give them justice in sacrilege cases.
Proxy Political Wars
With the situation being a little topsy-turvy in the Punjab Congress unit, the Congress Leader Manish Tewari said that two previous Advocate Generals of Punjab have become a punching bags in the proxy political wars. He indicated tha tthe infighting with the party continues even after the leadership changes within the party.
This comes after Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi accepted the resignation from Deol. He was reportedly accused of interfering with the work of the Punjab government and spreading misinformation.
