In order to improve women’s safety, the Rajanna-Sircilla police department has launched the ‘Bus Lo Bharosa’ campaign, which aims to install CCTV cameras in all RTC and private school buses.
As part of this project, 77 buses have already been outfitted with surveillance cameras, and another 130 RTC buses are slated to receive cameras over the next 15 days.
The CCTV cameras installed on these buses will not only enable real-time monitoring for passenger safety, but will also act as a deterrent to possible misbehavior. The footage from these cameras will be available to the police control center, allowing for quick response in the event of an adverse incident. In the event of school buses, however, the video feeds will be exclusively linked to the police control center.
While attending the district’s Independence Day celebrations, State IT Minister KT Rama Rao dedicated the CCTV cameras at the Integrated District Offices Complex. During the ceremony, KTR complimented the district police for their efforts to improve the safety of schoolgirls on bus rides.
