Rajath Kumar flies to Delhi, EC team to visit Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Rajath Kumar on Monday left for Delhi to present a report to Election Commission on polls preparedness in the State. He will get back to Hyderabad at the earliest as a team of the EC is coming to Hyderabad for a two-day official visit on Tuesday to discuss on the polls.

Thus, the Election Commission has speeded up the process of conducting elections for the Telangana State probably in November last week. A team led by Deputy Commissioner of EC Umesh Sinha will be arriving in the city on Tuesday. He will hold talks with the political parties on September 11 on the possible conduct of the early polls. Sinha and other Central officials will also hold a video conference with the Collectors of all the 31 districts in Telangana about the polls.

They will hold crucial talks with Chief Secretary SK Joshi and DGP M Mahender Reddy on September 12 and finalize the polls schedule which will be announced in October second week or third week. The Election Commission was busy with making all arrangements for the polls and asked the officials concerned to get ready for the same. The EC also directed them to procure the EVMs, VV-PATS, machinery, security measures, booths, booth level officials and other staff required for the elections in a peaceful and smooth manner. In all probability the election commission will take a final call on the schedule only after talking to the political parties, CS and DGP besides taking the report from Rajath Kumar on the polls preparedness.
