Rajinikanth’s “Coolie” to Explore Gold Smuggling in New Direction

In an exciting development for Indian cinema, legendary actor Rajinikanth is teaming up with acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj for their upcoming film, “Coolie.” Known for his successful films like “Master,” “Kaithi,” “Vikram,” and “Leo,” Kanagaraj is embarking on a new path with this standalone project. Reflecting on his latest film, “Leo,” which faced criticism for not resonating with his established cinematic universe, Kanagaraj acknowledged shortcomings and pledged improvements for “Coolie.”

Unlike his previous works, “Coolie” will shift away from themes of drug abuse to delve into the realm of gold smuggling. Rajinikanth is slated to portray a character with shades of grey, offering a fresh perspective for his audience. The promotional teaser for “Coolie” has already been unveiled, promising a commercial film packed with the dynamic elements Rajinikanth’s fans eagerly anticipate. Kanagaraj has assured that “Coolie” will deliver a distinctive and thrilling cinematic experience. Rajinikanth is expected to join the film’s production soon, with actor Sathyaraj also confirmed to reunite with Rajinikanth after four decades.

Details about the rest of the cast are yet to be revealed, but according to recent updates, filming will transition from Hyderabad to Chennai, where an expansive set has been erected for the production. “Coolie” is poised to be a high-budget action thriller, with Rajinikanth stepping into a negative role. Reports speculate that both “Coolie” and “Jailer 2,” Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated films, could see releases in 2025.
