Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao urged the Centre to release grants and funds to Telangana State as per bifurcation promises.
Harish Rao wrote a letter to Union Finance Minister Niramala Sitharaman and appealed to release Rs 900 crore immediately towards the development of backward districts under the Bifurcation Act under the 94 (2) section. These funds are pending and should be extended after 2021-22 for another five years, he urged.
Harish Rao said the State government fulfilled all formalities to get funds for local bodies which the Centre rejected. The center should take steps to release Rs 817.61 cr towards local bodies’ development recommended by the 14th finance commission, he said.

He also urged the Centre to release Rs 24,205 crore recommended by Niti Ayog towards Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya programs in the State. As per 15th finance commission recommendations, the Centre should release Rs 723 crore special grant to cover the loss comparing 2020-21 to 2019-20 financial years to the State.
He also urged Finance Minister Niramala Sitharaman to take immediate steps to adjust Rs 495.20 crore under Central sponsored schemes given by fault to Andhra Pradesh State. He also sought release of Rs 210 crore under IGST to the State.
Since the taxes devolution dipped due to GST, he urged the Union Finance Minister to release Rs 723 crore to the State. He also bemoaned that the funds are pending for quite some time. He hoped the Union Minister will take immediate steps to release the grants and funds to Telangana State.
