Hyderabad: The Chief Electoral Officer, Rajat Kumar today said that they have fully geared up for conducting the elections for 119 Assembly segments as the EC has announced the elections schedule for Telangana Assembly on Dec 7 and results to be announced on 11.
Addressing a press conference at Secretariat here after the EC declaring the polls schedule for Telangana and other four states from Nov to Dec this year, he said that the model code of conduct is in force the district collectors have made all requisite arrangements. He directed the political parties to remove in 24 hours the election related advertisements, banners, cutouts, hoardings and any others from railway stations, bus stations and government offices if any. The parties can use the ads or wall posters by taking permission from the house owners and follow the code of conduct else the EC will take serious action he warned.
The advertisements, expenditure and related details have to be submitted to the EC for veracity. The EC, officials in the state and districts will strictly monitor the ads and pressed in flying squads, mobile teams immediate to check the flow of illegal money, liquor contraband by using police force. In coordination with other wings, the EC has made necessary arrangements for smooth and fair conduct of the polls. Filing of voter identity cards 10 days before filing of nominations can be done. We are using to make additions and deletions as per the veracity of the voters names he stated. The leaders should not use official vehicles and resources with immediate effect and stop development works in 72 hours.
Rajat Kumar informed that the collectors of 31 districts are ready with all arrangements. As part of the poll arrangements we have set up 24 hour monitoring cell, complaints can be made on number 1950 for grievances of elections, get reports from 31 districts to be given to EC. The EC has appointed two additional CEOs, police fully prepared with DGP and other officials for the smooth conduct of the polls on Dec 7 and results will be announced on 11 he said. In addition to voter photographs on website available and collectors will monitor the polls. We are coordinating with DGP and other officials for smooth conduct of the polls in a fair and hassle free manner, Rajat Kumar said. The EC announced that the elections will be conducted in a single spell by receiving the nominations on November 19, withdrawal on 22 and scrutiny will be on 28, he added. (NSS)
