The Election Commission of India (ECI) has named returning officers and assistant returning officers for all Telangana assembly constituencies ahead of the state’s Assembly elections. During the ongoing campaign, it was decided to review the situation in various districts and resolve any flaws on the voters’ list.
The list of Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) for Telangana’s 119 assembly constituencies has been announced by Telangana’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Vikas Raj. Avinash Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Election Commission of India, finalised the appointment of ROs based on the list presented by the CEO Telangana.
Revenue Divisional Officers will be appointed as Returning Officers in the majority of assembly constituencies. Municipal Corporation Coordinating Officers have been delegated to Special Deputy Collectors and Zonal Commissioners. In some districts, additional collectors have been assigned as returning officers. Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) will also be appointed divisionally, with tehsildars serving as AROs and municipal officials employed for assembly constituencies inside the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) boundaries.
The Election Commission’s thorough appointment process is intended to ensure a smooth and effective elections process in Telangana. The officials appointed will be responsible for overseeing and managing the elections in their respective seats. The groundwork for the next Telangana assembly elections is being laid steadily with the finalisation of the list of Returning Officers and AROs.
