Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy participated in the 19th edition of the Alai Balai programme, a cultural event held annually during the Dasara festival, organized by veteran politician and Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya. The event, which promotes Telangana’s rich cultural heritage, took place on Sunday and saw leaders from various political parties coming together to celebrate the region’s traditions.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of preserving Telangana’s cultural roots and expressed his appreciation for Dattatreya’s continuous efforts to revive the state’s customs. Alai Balai, an initiative started by Dattatreya nearly two decades ago, has become a symbol of unity and cultural pride in the state, transcending political affiliations.
Chief Minister Reddy noted that Alai Balai played a crucial role in inspiring the formation of the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (JAC), which pushed for the creation of a separate Telangana state. The programme was instrumental in raising awareness about the importance of safeguarding Telangana’s identity during the prolonged fight for statehood.
