Revanth writes to CM on farmers’ suicides

Hyderabad: Congress MP A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday wrote an open letter to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on the issue of suicides of farmers in the State. He told the CM that a report by DCRB stated that Telangana State secured third position in the suicides of the farmers in the entire country.

He also said it was unfortunate that the CM had not even taken up the issue during his 11-hour marathon conference with the Collectors of all the districts of the State. He said he expressed his strong protest over the attitude of the CM towards the farmers in the state. He wondered as to why the CM had not spared even five minutes to discuss on suicides of farmers.

He alleged that the CM had confined himself to deliver “useless, rhetorical” speeches through the conference. He asked the CM as to what kind of decisions he had taken to solve the problems faced by the farmers. He alleged that the CM had cheated the farmers in the name of the Rythu Bandhu scheme, farm Loan waiver, and minimum support price. He demanded that the CM allocate adequate funds to fulfill all the promises made to the farmers before Assembly elections.
