Round Table on “Godavari water utilization” by TS, AP on July 9

Hyderabad: “State governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh should resolve to utilize Godavari river water to mitigate problems of water-starved Rayalaseema region in AP and Palamuru and Nalgonda areas in Telangana State. Officials concerned of both the States should study thoroughly and submit reports to the governments on how to divert water from the Godavari.”

This view was expressed by Telangana State Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India), which has several experts and experienced engineers as its members.  It decided to deliberate the subject threadbare by organizing a Round Table on “Diversion of Godavari River Water to other basin” on July 7 at 10 am at Visvesvaraya Bhavan, Khairatabad. Court cases, Tribunal cases and impact of the outcomes are to be deliberated on these issues.

The Round Table was aimed at discussing the water requirements of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States, possible methods for Diversion of Godavari Rivers and also to arrive at an Action Plan for submitting to the Government for initiating immediate steps for providing required quantum of water to the present and future generations to make the Telangana State as a model one in the country.
